Varian Medical Systems, the world leader in radiotherapy, is introducing the HyperArc™ system to advance the precision, speed and quality of radiotherapy and radiosurgery treatments.

“HyperArc is an exciting new technology that unlocks the potential of using highly non-coplanar treatment strategies to usher in a new era of precision in radiotherapy and radiosurgery for cancer patients," said Kolleen Kennedy, president of Varian Oncology Systems. "HyperArc is designed to automate and simplify sophisticated treatments such as Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), and make them available to more cancer patients around the world."

With HyperArc, clinicians should be able to deliver more compact radiation doses that closely conform to the size, shape, and location of tumors while sparing more surrounding healthy tissue. HyperArc is designed to capitalize on the unique capabilities of Varian's TrueBeam® system and EDGE™ radiosurgery system treatment platforms including the PerfectPitch™ 6 degrees of freedom couch. 

The HyperArc treatment delivery technology is not yet available for sale. The company is aiming to make it clinically available mid of 2017. Clinicians have been collaborating with Varian on the development and preliminary testing of this technology.
