Sustainable stands at The Autumn Fair

Our better stands initiative

At Informa Markets we partner with trusted exhibitors and contractors to create lasting, sustainable designs that go beyond single-use displays.

SUSTAINABLE DESIGNS

Why Better Stands?

Design your stand with the Better Stands guide to create sustainable, impactful, and eco-friendly exhibition experiences.

Eliminate the risks posed by single-use stands.
Single-use structures pose health & safety, and environmental issues.
Choose reusable stands to support a greener future.
Opting for reusable stands minimises waste and delivers safer and quicker operations.
A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
The Better Stands vision
We aim to phase out disposable stands by 2030 to drive sustainability. Space-only exhibitors are encouraged to achieve at least Bronze Better Stands status by the end of 2025. Start discussing sustainable solutions with your contractor today.
Bronze

For the bronze status, the reusable materials include the stand structure and walls, platform, furniture and equipment, and lighting.

Silver

For the silver status, the reusable materials include the stand structure and walls, platform, furniture and equipment, lighting, fascia and overhead signage, rigged structure, ceiling, and display facilities.

Gold

All space-only stands are independently verified at the end of the event, taking into account stand structure and walls, platforms, furniture and equipment, lighting, fascia and overhead signage, rigged structures, ceiling, display facilities, graphics and decorative items, and floor covering.

FAQ
Some of your most common queries answered. Can't find what you're looking for?
What is the Better Stands initiative and how would this benefit me?

Disposable stands cause environmental, health & safety and wellbeing issues onsite at our events. Across Informa in 2019, disposable stands equated to over 80% of our total waste generated at events. Proactively addressing this practice globally, at events like The Autumn Fair is key to creating a more sustainable events industry.

What is a disposable stand?

When we talk about disposable stands we mean single use, disposable stands made from raw materials onsite, such as chipboard, particleboard or low-density fiberboard (LDF). The quality of finish is often also compromised due to working time pressures.

What is a reusable / non-disposable stand?

A non-disposable/reusable stand is constructed using materials designed to be used multiple times. There are almost endless variations of multiple use stands to suit every size and desired appearance and as the cost of these stands is generally lower than for disposable stands this helps to reduce outlay and provide a better investment. It could be:

• Frame and fabric

• Wood stock panels

• Aluminium modular

• Cardboard flat pack

• Exhibitor owner OR rented

• And many other altneratives!
