3D MEDICAL PRINTING CONFERENCE

29 - 30 January 2018

 10.5 CME Points

Overview

ThemeThe future of emerging technologies in healthcare

The global use of 3D printing in the medical field is rapidly expanding, with many experts now appreciating the remarkable benefits it can offer, from increasing productivity and cost-effectiveness, to improved success rates in many complex surgeries. Despite these benefits, there are still significant clinical and regulatory challenges to overcome, along with the ongoing knowledge gap and scepticism surrounding its clinical use, particularly here in the Middle East.

The 2018 edition of the 3D Medical Printing conference, now CME accredited, provided a global perspective on the key challenges involved in the implementation of medical 3D printing practices in a variety of settings. The reality of the technology was discussed, offering an accurate view of the state of research and when anticipated emerging technologies such as bioprinting was available. Regional and international case studies from a range of clinical specialties were presented highlighting how it is revolutionising healthcare with greater accuracy in surgical planning to improving efficiency through shorter surgical times.

What were the main topics covered?

  • 3D printing in surgical planning
  • 3D printing in medical education
  • Bioprinting
  • Competing and complimentary technologies
  • Multidisciplinary case study session
  • Regulatory affairs
